1. What is Rseven and how does it work?
Rseven is a mobile phone backup service. That is the short answer, the long answer would be "Rseven is a life-caching tool. Rseven archives all the data recorded by your phone into a website. As your phone documents your daily activities, Rseven website shows your life journey in a timeline and displays the strength of your relationships with the people that you communicate with".
Rseven mobile client on the phone collects the data from the phone and uploads them to the Rseven.com website. The Rseven mobile client also synchronizes the phone's contacts & calendars with the website and restore images, video and audio into the phone if selected by the user at the website.

2. What phone does Rseven support?
Rseven supports all Windows Mobile 6.x phones (Professional and Standard Edition), Nokia S60 (Symbian) 3rd & 5th Edition phones and Android 1.5 or later. Rseven mobile client can also be installed on Windows Mobile 5 phones installed with .NET CF 2.0 or higher (follow the instruction in the mobile client download page at rseven.com/d.)

3. What data connection does Rseven uses?
Rseven mobile client uses any data connection available to the phone i.e. the phone network (e.g. GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSDPA), wireless LAN and USB cable (Active Sync for Windows Mobile phones or IP Passthrough for selected Nokia phones).

4. Can the user chooses which data to upload/backup?
Yes, the Rseven mobile client selects all items to be archived by default but the user can unselect items they do not wish to upload.

5. What are the data that Rseven backs up?
Rseven backs up call history/logs, messages (SMS, MMS & emails), images, audio, video, contacts (phonebook) and calendar (appointments & to do items).

6. Can I use Rseven to migrate my contacts & calendar from one phone to another?
Yes, Rseven supports multiple phones per user. If you create a contact on one phone & upload it to the website, it will appear in the other phone after that phone synchronizes with the website. However the user must make sure that the contact & calendar detail is supported by the other phone (the website indicates which detail is supported by each platform).

7. Can I download data previously archived to the phone?
Yes, you can restore images, audio and video to the phone by selecting them on the website. The file will be downloaded to the phone during the next archiving session.

8. Why doesn't the website delete a contact or calendar when I delete it on the phone?
Deleting a contact or calendar on the phone will not delete the item on the website after synchronization. This is to prevent accidental deletion by the user. If the user wish to delete the contact or calendar item on the website, it can be done by using the Delete button on the website.

9. How does share work?
You can share any item with members of the group you're in. The shared item will appear in their Timeline and Contact List. For contact & calendar, the group member can choose to sync the item with the phone by selecting it on the website.

10. If I delete a contact or calendar item on the website, will it delete the item in the phone?
Yes, deletion on the website will delete the item on the phone. This is because the website is where the user manages the contact & calendar items.

11. I can't upload messages from my Palm Treo 750V.
The Palm Treo 750V uses a proprietary SMS/MMS application, not the Windows Mobile version. Hence Rseven doesn't support it at the moment, sorry.

12. How come Rseven doesn't have a public page for my data?
Rseven services is for you to archive and manage your private data. Our focus is to provide a tool for you to search and browse back in time to see your previous activities on the phone as well as managing your contacts & calendar.

13. Rseven is free at the moment, will it always be that way?
There will always be a free version of Rseven. But the free version has the following limits:

50MB limit on file (images, audio, video) backup per calendar month. The limit will be reset every 1st day of the month at 0000hrs Central Time (US & Canada)

Able to browse, search and restore items up to 3 months in the past from current date. Items created older than 3 months ago will not be deleted and still exist, but will only be available if you upgrade to the Rseven Pro account.

The timeline window limit of 3 months means that free users can only browse, view, search and restore items up to 3 months ago. Your data are NOT deleted from our servers, but to access the data older than 3 months ago, you have to upgrade to the Rseven Pro account.
You can upgrade to the Rseven Pro account for USD24 per annum, that's USD2 per month, it's cheaper than a cup of coffee. To upgrade, login to rseven.com website and click on the Upgrade to Rseven Pro button.

14. How come some of my contact's numbers are missing when I migrate from a Nokia S60 to a Windows Mobile phone?
Some contact details only exist in one platform only, not both, such as Telephone - only available in Nokia S60, in Windows Mobile its called either Telephone(Home) or Telephone(Work). To ensure compatibility, please use details that is compatible across platform.

15. After installing the Rseven client on my Nokia phone, what do I do? Where is the icon for the Rseven?
You can find the Rseven client in the Installation. folder of the Menu. For quick access you can put Rseven icon on your front screen (Nokia calls it Active Standby), go to Tools > Settings > Phone > Standby mode > Active standby apps, choose Rseven as one of the Shortcuts.

16. What is call recording & how does it work?
Rseven can record your outgoing & incoming calls including calls to your voicemail. You can set in Option > Settings > Record calls; whether you want to record all calls or always prompt or turn it off. If you set it to 'Always prompt', Rseven will prompt you when there is a incoming or outgoing call; whether you want to record the call or not. The recording can be played on the phone using the Rseven mobile app by opening Call Logs > Option > Open and go to the right most tab (Record).
On the website, you can playback the recording by selecting the Call Logs, you'll need to have QuickTime installed in your PC. You can download QuickTime from Apple's website at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

17. Is call recording legal?
In the United States, under federal law it is legal for one party to record a phone conversation. However in some states like California, both party consent is required to record the phone conversation. The FCC defines one of the ways to notify the consent is by having a regular beep tone during the recording. Rseven mobile app produces an audible beep tone every 15 seconds during the recording. 18. How does Rseven record the location my calls?
The Rseven mobile app records the cell location when you make & receive calls and when you send & receive an SMS. You can turn this feature off in Options > Settings > Advance > Location services. The location is then displayed in the Call Logs and SMS details in Timeline on the website. The description of the location of the call is subject to the mobile network broadcasting the cell information and the database of the cell locations that Rseven uses.

19. How does Auto Backup work?
If you enabled Auto Backup, the Rseven mobile app will automatically backup the data on your phone based on your settings. You can set the day or days, the time and the item type you wish to backup in Options > Settings > Auto Backup for Nokia S60 or Menu > Auto Backup for Windows Mobile.
